Fifth chakra ~ authentic voice
When healed and open, the throat chakra is a transmitter of truth, freedom, and clarity. This is the place of self-expression related to the voice. It is also the gateway to inner and outer worlds, moving us from our own subjective perspective to different point of views. It propels us forward, inviting us to go beyond ourselves so that we may grow. It allows us to offer what we know to others, and it invites others to share what they know with us , laying the foundation for peaceful and healthy relationships, between individuals or groups. This center is a channel for the heart, conveying our real feelings to the world. Your expression is a powerful instrument of creativity when you can communicate what is in your heart without injury or disrespect.
The Fifth Chakra
Sanskrit Name: Vishuda (purity), Element: Light, Color: Blue like a summer sky, Body Aspects: Throat, mouth, neck, esophagus, Instinct: Psychic expression, Psychological Aspects: Manifesting dreams, creativity, communication, faith, truth, self-expression, sacred listening, Gland: Thyroid, parathyroid Seeds: Personal power, faith, will Negative Expressions: Betrayal, addictions, psychosis, sleep disorders, lies, fear of speaking out, gossiping, toxicity, Corresponding Ages: 28-35.
The fifth chakra is located at the hollow of the throat and influences the thyroid gland, the temperature regulator in the body. With a healed and healthy fifth chakra, an individual is free to speak openly and freely. One's words are kind, thoughtful, clear, and truthful. The voice is strong and alive with many tones of expression. Usually there is ease with writing, speaking, and sharing thoughts with others. These people make very good teachers and public speakers.
The gift of this chakra is accepting your originality, expressing your authentic voice and speaking your truth.
In a negative state, the throat will be susceptible to illnesses such as laryngitis, bronchitis, and sore throats. Tension in the throat and neck region is often due to lack of support in the early years regarding self-expression and freedom of speech.
Your expression reveals to others the choices you make in this life. More than any other energy center, it tells the world what your dreams are. A balanced expression allows for healthy choices and walking your talk.
This is the center where you begin to turn inward for direction. We listen for our inner voice and learn to access and rely on our intuition to guide us. I have found it helpful to keep a psychic journal in order to track my intuitive activity. We must be open to our intuition, expect it, fully trust it and act on it for it to serve us well.
See if you can remember a time when your intuition helped you. How? Can you recall a time when you acted on your intuition?
One way to activate our intuition and strengthen the throat chakra is to practice being silent for a period of time during the day. I have very little time for reflection being a new mother, but I try to go for a quiet walk in nature every morning. Silence is very liberating.
Another way to free our expression is to engage in artistic activities on a daily basis. It can be as simple as keeping a journal and writing a few lines each day or making an extravagant meal. When we loose ourselves in creative expression, our minds rest and our hearts open.
Our intuition will grow stronger when we stop worrying so much about how other people perceive us. Being intuitive means seeing the truth without filters. We are all the same in our core. We long for love, comfort and acceptance.
When I receive messages in the cards about purification, I know the throat chakra is involved. Food, drink, drugs, smoke and other external substances all enter our bodies through this channel. We can choose to be healthy or to poison ourselves. It takes a balanced third chakra, strong will power and discipline, to avoid self destructive choices and addictions. On the mental level what we feed our mind and soul is just as important as what we feed our body. It is important to go on a negativity fast every once in a while and stay away from violent media and conversation. We can only truly thrive if we keep our speech honest, positive, kind and non gossipy.
A person with an imbalanced expression suppresses her true feelings. She may build walls around her to block out others council. There is a high level of secrecy, anger, frustration and anxiety. The angry inner child is a result from muted self expression in childhood.
Were you able to speak freely growing up? Were the adults in your childhood open and honest in their expression?
Ways To Balance Our Expression
Greet others in a kind and positive manner. Breathe before you speak. Breathe while listening. Practice saying what you want to say in advance. Wear something sky blue around your neck. Wear Turquoise jewelry. Cancel out negative speech. Avoid participating in gossip. Go some place remote and loudly scream, chant or sing (I like singing to the river). Learn a new language. Use positive affirmations. Create and recite a positive mantra for yourself. Ask your soul for guidance. Practice silence for ten minutes a day. Respond to negativity with silence. Speak the truth for one day. Sing or chant as often as you can. Take a public speaking course or an acting class. Make yourself laugh. Do your own intuitive reading. Do an intuitive reading for a friend. Keep a journal. Say yes to yourself every day. Listen to your intuition. Use essential oils at the base of your neck. Allow only healthy foods and drinks to pass your lips.
The "way of the Throat Chakra" is the way of inspired creativity, seeking and sharing of the truth. It is the way of standing up for what you believe, saying no when you need to, and being open and honest in what you say.
We create our lives with the words we use. When we say "I am," we are commanding the universe to deliver whatever we add to it. I have heard this center being referred to as our magic wand and as magicians we must serve the light and be mindful of our transmitter.
