Sixth chakra ~ sacred vision

In the sixth chakra, or third eye,  we experience our own awakening. Located in the middle of the forehead, when balanced, this chakra helps us see and experience that we are one with Source. We begin to see the truth in the world. We realize that we are an eternal being inhabiting a temporal body.

This energy center is the divine architect of our lives. It focuses on our ability to see accurately, to analyze, think, reason, discern, dream, imagine, and visualize. It is the home for the psychic gift of clairvoyance, a french word meaning "clear sight".

Sanskrit Name: Ajna (unlimited power), Element: Pure light, Color: Indigo blue like a clear winter sky at night, Body Aspects: Brain, eyes, nervous system, Instinct: Truth, Psychological Aspects: Reason and logic, intelligence, empathy, depression, stress-related disorders, denial, Gland: Pituitary, parathyroid Seeds: Enlightenment, self-realization, Negative Expressions: Delusion, neurosis, inadequacy, seizures,

The Sixth chakra

The back of the third eye is connected to our ability to accurately review the past while the front is connected to our ability to project into the future, to imagine or dream what we desire. The center point serves as the crucial connection between our past and our future, the foundation for wisdom. We must learn from our past in order to change our future and not just repeat past mistakes.

We each have our own unique form of intuition. I feel things in my body, I see visions and I find myself "knowing". An open third eye helps us convert this knowing into useful intuitive insight. We are able to see the big picture and imagine new possibilities. Awakened sacred vision is our headlight leading us out of the darkness of confusion and distortion. I mentioned clairvoyance and what this really means is to be able to see the truth without judgment. It is a gift that we can all develop as long as we get out of our own way.

A blocked or undeveloped third eye manifests as a fixation on details or routines and the way things have always been done. This fixation makes it difficult to think outside the box with problem solving. It also makes it difficult to dream big. When your sacred vision is imbalanced, you may suffer headaches, dizziness, eye strain, or have difficulty concentrating or focusing. Delusion, memory lapses, paranoia, dishonesty, doomsday thinking, over-analyzing and perfectionism to a fault are all symptoms of a closed third eye.

This is the center where creative genius is born. I struggle with my songwriting whenever my third eye is blocked. Writing flows really well when I am relaxed and less attached to my inner critic. There have been many times when my intuition told me to take a break in the middle of creating and the song wrote itself while I was on a walk. When we turn our sight around and look inside ourselves through sacred art, profound healing will take place. I consider my songwriting my therapy.

Our sixth chakra governs our self-image. This is where we form ideas about who we are and how we should present ourselves to the world. Most of us are shaped by others expectations and beliefs. Awakening the authentic self is a journey Joseph Campbell calls the Hero's Journey for a reason. Be open to ask for help along the way.

One of the most important functions of our sacred vision is to notice the beauty that surrounds us. Can you see the spirit and beauty in all things and people? This is a gift we must develop for the song of life to continue. Mother Earth is our guide in this matter. She teaches us reverence for all life. Our disconnect from nature has led us to harm the very source of our existence.

When we find ourselves in a lot of turmoil it becomes important to look for the silver lining, to seek the higher ground of spiritual truth. I find it very helpful to sit in the mountains. There is a spot I like to visit, where I have a view over the town I live in. I sit in this place and I disconnect from my day to day concerns while I open to my soul. I always come back with a fresh outlook and a new course of action.

Do you pay attention to your dreams? Try keeping a dream journal for a while and you will be amazed at what your spirit is trying to communicate about you and your unique path. Dreams are often prophetic and a valuable source of guidance. My husband and I planned a move to Portland many years ago and I kept having dreams about train wrecks. I wish I had listened to my intuition trying to warn me, because the move didn't work out and we had to come back two months later.

Look on the bright side. Negativity will block this center. When we are stressed and stuck in a negative rut, the best way to get out is to cut all unnecessary activity and focus on our basic needs. Your soul home is calling you and it's time to relax deeply and see the world with your eyes closed. Soon you'll see that things right themselves when you are once again in touch with your deepest truth and wisdom.

Balancing Your Sacred Vision

This beautiful workbook by Sophia Shiloh Mccloud saved me when I first arrived in the US and was going through the fire of transformation. I needed to stimulate my creative genius in order to remain calm and receive accurate guidance on the new journey.

Work with positive affirmations. Decorate your home with fine art. Visit a beautiful spot in nature, and have a picnic. Attend an art opening at a gallery near you. Plant flowers. Have dinner at your favorite restaurant with a special friend. Experiment with a new look. Update your wardrobe. Care for your appearance even if you are not going anywhere special. Create a dream board. Wear an indigo blue scarf. Take up photography. Clean up your house and smudge it. Make your own flower arrangement. Design your own tarot deck. Study dream symbolism. See if you can go on a three-day judgment fast of yourself and others. Take a watercolor or drawing class. Keep track of your "silver linings". Visualize succeeding at the things you want to do in life. Create a meditation garden or corner in your home. Feng shui your home. Try our Warming the Earth session. Look for the Divine in everyone and everything.

What is your favorite way to imagine your heart's desire? Have you ever successfully imagined something into being? How did you go about it?

Using all your senses, start dreaming your ideal life into being like the shamans. If you can visualize it, and your heart is in it, you are sure to live your dream one day.

Soulfully,

Victoria
