The third chakra ~ courageous action
When you want to empower and improve your life, bring balance to your third chakra. The function of this our inner sun is to translate vision into reality. When we rise and stand in our true power, we manifest our dreams and activate our destiny. There is no turning back from our path of service. We can only move forward once awakened to our sacred power.
The Third Chakra
Sanskrit Name: Manipura (the palace of jewels), Element: Fire, Color: Yellow, Body Aspects: Stomach, abdomen, liver, pancreas, storing and releasing energy, spleen, Psychological Aspects: Courage, power, expression in the world, Glands: Pancreas, Seeds: Autonomy, individuation, selfless service, fulfillment of dreams, longevity, Negative Expressions: Gastrointestinal disorders, anorexia, sorrow, pride, ego inflation, neurotic symptoms, low energy, victim mentality, temper tantrums, shame, Corresponding Ages: 14-21.
The Solar Plexus Chakra, located between the navel and solar plexus, is the core of our personality, our identity, of our ego.
The third chakra is the center of willpower. While the Sacral chakra seeks pleasure and enjoyment, the third chakra is all about the perception of who you are.
The gift of this chakra is sensing your personal power, being confident, responsible, and reliable.
The third chakra is the center of your self-esteem, your willpower, self-discipline, as well as warmth in your personality.
The energy of this chakra allows you to transform inertia into action and movement. It allows you to meet challenges and mover forward in your life.
It governs self direction, personal will and intention, self-control and physical energy. Individuals with third-chakra disorders often suffer from fatigue. We may have all the resources for success at hand, if the third chakra is not working properly, we can not succeed with our endeavors. We simply don't have the stamina to follow through and get to the finish line.
The third chakra is the sphere of our inner adult. Here we begin to decide which direction we want to move towards in life. We act on our inner guidance, our gut feeling. We learn how to be captain of our ship. We live our lives courageously and passionately. The quest of the third chakra is about identifying what is important to us in life and supporting it without compromise. In doing so, we leave the limiting aspects of childhood behind.
I have often seen, in my work with clients, how a depleted solar plexus chakra is blocked by anger related to parental issues and the father in particular. It makes a lot of sense to me, because the third chakra is action oriented. It is governed by fiery masculine energy and our father is the first to model masculine power for us.
When this chakra is unbalanced, we wrestle with issues of failure, rejection, loss of face, and inadequacy. If we are not able to stand tall in our worth and truth, we will feel a sinking or aching feeling in our gut. If a person lies or fails to live with integrity, this chakra will be weak and he or she remains hidden. This false persona will eventually cause much suffering.
You will recognize people with a balanced third chakra by their quiet self esteem and shining disposition. They know who they are and live their lives accordingly. Their opposite would be the rebel without a cause, the grandiose ego or the over achiever. They have not yet realized their divine potential and have no sense of direction or purpose.
When we honor our truth and chart our own course in life, when we break free from conditioning and untie the mask, our inner adult will be empowered at last. It takes courage, discipline and self-awareness to be the peaceful warrior. We must choose our battles while setting healthy boundaries. We must take our power back from past wrongs so we have the energy to act on guidance and follow our bliss. Lethargy and depression follow in the tracks of indecision.
We offer a session called Sowing the New Seeds. It is a good workout for our artist's arm, the masculine force within.
Ways To Charge the Third Chakra
Practice saying no. Place affirmations and motivational statements around your home and work space. Take a vacation. Begin a project and finish it. Start a twenty-minute daily exercise routine and stick to it. Write down what your goals are and take baby steps every day toward realizing your goals. Make a decision and stand behind it no matter what the outcome is. Work with the color yellow. Go on a vision quest. Practice steady comfortable breathing as a way to align with spirit and become the peaceful warrior. Consume only high energy foods. Find a mentor or motivational coach and ask them to guide you. Share your plans only with those who will support you, the "suns" in your life. Train for a marathon or a walk for a special cause. Listen to motivational audiotapes. Volunteer for community service, engage! Choose a yellow crystal such as Amber, Citrine or Orange Calcite and blow a positive mantra into it. Leave it on your bedside table to remind you of your new intentions. Be brave, think outside the box and expect miracles when charting your course.
The loneliest ones are those who resign from what might have been their reason to shine. These are the lyrics of my song Broken Armor. I have known this to be true.
What are you really committed to at this time? What are your obstacles? What are you willing to do to support your goals?
Find a truly fulfilling goal, do your best to realize it and surrender the outcome to your Divine. Unspeakable joy awaits those who are loyal to their dreams.
