a lesson in BALANCE
When you draw or are drawn to Major Arcana card #14, Temperance, life circumstances are requiring you to "walk your talk". Teaching, healing, artistic creations, and gifts of spirit are forthcoming.
A test of character, courage, or faith has been presented to you. Call on your guides and angels for courage, endurance and behavior adaption in response to the test. Act as your guardian angel would act.
Another aspect of this cycle is joining opposing forces to create a new possibility. What opposing forces are at war within you? Holding two different views or energies and allowing them to create something new within you or your life can be very liberating.
Conflict can only be resolved through compromise and cooperation. Both sides have to shift in order to come to a place of harmony. You are being asked to open to the possibility of a creative and as yet unforeseen solution to a conflict (conflicting choices, friends, relationships, beliefs, needs).
Keywords: Wisdom, merging, balance, healing, blending opposites, connection, patience, alchemy, art, caution, care, harmony and flow, integration, protection, moderation in all things, co-operation, compromise, compassion, emotions and feelings, management, good communication, imbalance, addiction, extremism, lack of caution, overreacting or under reacting.
The process here is to model self-perception and strength of character to include new ideas and establish a happy and balanced life. You may have to take heroic action to conquer negativity and to create a personality infused with self-love and faith.
I have discovered a tendency in clients to think that they have to give up something of great value in order to move away from a conflict. Though this is sometimes a valid assumption, it is not the case when the Temperance card shows up in your reading. Instead, you are presented with an opportunity to be creative and take the middle road.
This step of the journey, if mastered, offers a better understanding of how we can open to our purpose. Major Arcana card #14 readies you for the climb to the culmination of your life's spiritual work. A new life approaches as we become more engaged with both inner and outer worlds. As we learn to embrace the soul, we connect with our own spiritual truth and wisdom, at last able to fully embody spirit.
How can I embody my true self and holy essence in my daily life?
Live each day in a manner that truly reflects your deepest self. It is a good time to evaluate the many ways you have responded to the tests and lessons in life. List the most significant challenges in your life and how they contributed to your growth and healing. Or you could take an event in your life that you gave a disempowering meaning and and find a way to rewrite it so that the interpretation of this same story is one in which you are a hero. An increasing awareness of one's past, present and future transforms our human experience and quench our great thirst for meaning.
You will soon enter a cycle where you are being asked to prioritize growth opportunities as they come to you. As the earth angel you are becoming, what new approaches to life's dilemmas will you choose?
Healing begins with awareness. What are you discovering about a conflict in your life at this point? If you have been trying to maneuver entirely on your own coming up against one closed door after another, your divine might be whispering to you to go down the hall and try a different door.
I will share my current dilemma and the likely reason why I pulled this card to be the theme for this week's blog on the Major Arcana. I am a new mother and I have very little help with my son, whom I love deeply. I feel so alive when I express myself creatively and have ample time to nourish my soul. The passionate "free spirit" is constantly clashing with the "dedicated mother" in me who is a bit pinched at the moment and withholding. If I was to interview both parts, I might come up with something like this.
Free Spirit: I need to run free. I want to live life on my terms nourishing my creative pursuits as I please. I would like to spend days on end learning new things and creating sacred art. I need ample time to connect with my Divine. I would like to put myself first now.
Dedicated Mother: I have responsibilities. My son needs me most of the day and part of the night. It is shameful to want to spend a lot of time with me when I have such a wonderful child. I only have one child so why am I complaining? Most mothers around here have several children. This is my mission now. I'll have plenty of time for my soul life and divine purpose when he is older.
It would not be realistic to follow either voice blindly at this point. My situation calls for compromise like the Temperance card suggests. How can I create a win win solution that involves the best of both worlds? My goal must be to not judge, to seek middle ground, and to find harmony within and without. I don't have a perfect solution in this moment which is why I am sitting with the energy of Temperance and asking for angelic assistance.
The lesson at hand is to really inhabit your body while opening to the heavens for direction. Grounding helps counteract a tendency to get lost in irrational thoughts and emotions. Spending time outside walking on the earth is also good grounding.
Be self-loving, have faith, and stay true to yourself. Meditate and open to integrate the changes taking place in and around you. Surrender your struggles to your angels and know that it is time to learn, study, and gather information. Have faith in the great mystery and the vast potential of the unknown. Enjoy being a student, because in the future, you will put your new knowledge to good use.
