a lesson in cause and effect
Continuing our blog series on the Major Arcana of the Tarot, we're exploring number 11 or the "Justice" card.
Keywords: justice, balance, karma, cause and effect, law, fairness, self examination, integrity, self-respect, honesty, restoring cosmic order, impeccability.
Justice represents a conscious awareness that our decisions and actions have long-term consequences and our present and future circumstances are most likely a result of these decisions and actions. At the same time, Justice shows that your actions in the future can be changed by a lesson learned in the present situation. We are talking about educational karma and if you are having a hard time, it most likely means that there is a lot to learn about your current situation and your creational patterns.
Praise and blame, gain and loss, pleasure and sorrow come and go like the wind. To be happy, rest like a giant tree in the midst of them all. - Gautama Buddha
Being under the influence of justice means we are given an opportunity to see ourselves more clearly. Our past choices sometimes leave us operating outside of the whole, where we can not exist for long without going into despair and stagnation. We are called to do something to restore the balance. This card often signals that a new choice needs to be made. We are given a chance to right things and do a course correction. This requires our careful consideration and observation. We must feel what is right. It is a very humbling experience if we can learn from what is happening rather than resist it. Karma is natural law, you reap what you sow always. Our actions are like a boomerang coming back to us with what we sent out there. Look at the repetitive cycles, the areas which cause disharmony in your life and work toward setting the record straight. Living in balance leads to more peace, flow and joy. Life flows better.
I have seen and experienced how this influence can sting quite a bit. It often involves letting go and stripping ourselves bare. Our past choices are forcing us to swallow our pride, lick our wounds and allow for our hearts to guide us once again. We are honing up to our choices and learning about honesty, integrity and morals. The process may require that we give up something of great value, because it is the only way to find peace and set our karmic record straight. There is no comfort or guarantee that we will receive ours in the end, nothing to hold on to other than our faith in a friendly universe and the fairness of spiritual law. We can not control the actions of others. We can only sweep in front of our own door and answer to ourselves and our Divine first.
I have witnessed clients undergo a divorce and having to give up all their material possessions when this card shows up in a reading. I have seen family feuds where a family member had to stand back and keep everyone's good in mind despite the fact that they were being treated horribly. This letting go was their path to emotional freedom. I knew they would be rewarded for honoring their truth and doing the right thing and that is the only comfort the cards were able to offer in that moment. The old saying do you want to be right or be happy applies.
Justice is often a good omen when upright. All will be fair in the end. Legal affairs will be in your favor etc.
The justice card may also signal a redemption of some sort. We are given a second chance to live our lives on purpose, in harmony with all. We are being rewarded for our willingness to stick it out and practice excellence throughout the hard times, embracing the highs and the lows of our lives.
Spend a lot of time in nature. Staying in harmony with the cycles and natural rhythms will help you achieve greater harmony overall.
Slow down and ask questions. Connect with your intuitive self. Become fluent in the languages of silence, emotion and intuition. This is your time to heal your past and make sure that you never have to repeat the cycle. Avoid distractions or the temptation to redeem yourself until you are confident that you have seen the whole truth and claimed your role in your current dilemma.
Do your best from the moment you wake up and make sure you are prepared for when things flow once again and second chances are yours to claim. Be impeccable in your thought, deed and word.
Respect other people where they are on their journey. Refrain from criticism and judgment.
Pray for self forgiveness. You are learning about self respect and right choice. You are enough.
