The Medicine of Fall

Autumn invites balance.

Where might you be overextending yourself in your outer world of movement and connection? And where might you need more space for your inner world of spiritual nourishment?

If you’re moving through a dark night of the soul, be gentle with yourself. This season calls us toward inner peace. What is falling away in your life? What are you ready to surrender to the earth? Trust the cycles of birth, life, death and rebirth.

As the wheel turns toward the darker half of the year, you may find yourself resisting the call to slow down. Our culture tells us to always be productive. If you feel the urge to rest, retreat, or do less, it can feel uncomfortable, even threatening to your sense of identity. If you’ve internalized the belief that rest equals laziness, giving yourself permission to pause can feel almost like an act of rebellion.

For me, autumn has always sparked a sense of quickening and creative energy. The fall winds carry a feeling of transformation. I can sense change approaching, inevitable and mysterious and I find myself wondering where it might take me within the greater web of my life:)

Perhaps fall asks us to hold both: the excitement of what is yet to come and the wisdom of what we are releasing.
